Device models

  • New models for this release
    • Hitachi superH 7615/6
      • Full Hw/Sw co-verification model implemented
      • Debugger interface to GDB supports both remote and extended-remote protocols
      • Boot code development package is given in source form. Include Makefile and link script for the GNU tool set.

  • Enhancements to existing models
    • IBM PPC750CX(e)
      • BAT registers and page tables are now under full user control. All the user has to do is to provide a set of three tables (two for the BAT registers and one for the page tables) and call the MMU initialization function.
      • Boot code development package is given in source form. Include Makefile and link script for the GNU tool set.
      • Memory Coherency can be maintained between DeskPOD soft memories and their copy in the simulator. This is a bi-directional interface.
    • Motorola MPC7450

      • Virtual output signal DBG_RESET_OUT was added to the processors signal list. Signal is asserted each time an external remote debugger attached to the simulated system. Designers can use this signal as an external reset.
      • interrupts and exceptions handling had improved.
      • extended-remote protocol for GDB is supported by spglink, now. This protocol support amongst all an automatic software reload by the debugger on both ends simulator/DeskPOD and debugger).

Interface to Third Party Tools

  • Denali memories (www.denalisoft.com)
    Memory synchronization functions controlled by PLI functions allows the user to maintain coherency of his simulation memory with the DeskPOD memories. Currently available for the PPC750CX(e)

HDL simulation

    • Adaptive simulation modules.
      Simulation modules adapts themselves to user's simulation frequency. Single simulation module support all the frequency. Scaling option of the 'vcompile' utility is not supported any more.

Firmware

    • Model loading according to adapter board model name
      When device model name is not specified in the bootptab file, it is extracted from the adapter board itself.

Workstation

  • Monitor
    • Dynamic change of Engage and Disengage conditions can be done directly from the monitor. Conditions can be added, deleted, enabled or disabled during simulation time.
    • Enhanced command line functionality includes left arrow, right arrow and delete keys.

  • Simpodd
    • Simulation queue support can now accept multiple requests for DeskPOD usage, and will serve them as soon as a matching DeskPOD is free ready to simulate. Simulation will not terminate on missing resource.

  • spglink
    • restart feature - supports now GDB's extended-remote protocol. This protocol enables the user to re-compile his program and restart the debugger without the need to restart the simulation. Currently available for the MIPS and the Sh4 processor families.

Hardware

  • New 337.5MHz DeskPOD Expected performance increases performance by 20% to 35% over the existing 225Mhz systems.
